Linwood Log Rugby Seven’s Competition.

Recently St Anne’s has had 15 children involved in a ten week rugby sevens  tournament.
Both teams did themselves proud showing excellent skills and sportsmanship.

Teams were randomly selected. Team ‘Tonga’ was a mixed team with Thomas, Ihaia, Joel, Luke, Reuben, Kalem  and a number of Linwood Ave players.

Team ‘Argentina’ was Jackson, John, Zion, Ethan, Robert, Korban, Jeremy,    Jack Swain, Lingas, Julio.
Both teams made the finals with Tonga playing off for 5th and  6th  and Argentina playing off for 1st and 2nd.
Tonga played very well and won, 8 tries to 2 with some great tries and some super defence.
Argentina played in the grand final with all other teams watching them.

They lead 2 tries to nil at half time however this game was not all over and by full time the scores were ties at 3 tries each. Extra time was played.  With this almost up the opposition Bromley ‘Wales’ scored in the corner!! St Anne’s team, although upset were very gracious in defeat and showed wonderful sportsmanship.
Jackson Youngman was deservedly presented with Player of the Competition and the team won some new sports gear for the school.

A special thanks to Denver and Belinda Youngman for coaching and managing the teams, Royden and the team at Linfield Sport for organising the competition and all the parents that helped and supported over the weeks.
