On Wednesday 4th December 11 children travelled to Ashburton.

All of our Athletes impressed with their performances and their support for each other. Results were John Lauvao 2^nd Shot Put, Meleane Ulugia 2^nd Shot Put, Joseph Magon 3^rd Shot Put, Jackson Youngman 3^rd 100m.

Yesterday 41 children from St Anne’s took part in the South East Zone Athletics Championship.

The children were fantastically behaved and all did themselves proud.

Result highlights were;

John 1st in the Discus and 2nd  in the Shot Put Jackson 1st 100m, 1st Long Jump, 2nd 1200m Joseph 1st Shot Put and 1st Discus Letone 2nd Shot Put Reuben 2nd 60m Zion 2nd 60m Meleane 2nd Shotput 12 Year Relay 1st Reuben, Kalem, Tyler, Jackson 13 Year Relay 1st  Thomas, Mona, Joesph, Zion Thomas 3rd  Long Jump and High Jump Laverton 4th Shot Put Madeline 3rd 1000m and 4th 50m 9 year Relay 3rd Elisah, Alecxis, Tayjuan , Madeline 11 Year Relay 3rd Laverton, Leo, Lingas Jack S Nadine 3rd   in 100m

Term 4 Class Letter

Dear Parents/Caregivers of Room 4 Students,

 Welcome back to another exciting term, I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break.

 This letter is just to let you know a little about what will be happening in Term Four.

 Homework, spelling and tables will begin this week and will be the same as it was last term.  Please sign your child’s notebook and reading log to show they are completing these at home.

Our Science topic for Term Four is ‘Innovation’ looking at exploring space, planets, the night sky, space innovation, space travel and the history and future of space.

St Anne’s will be entering a team in the South East Zone Athletic Championship which will be held on Tuesday the 12^th of November. Selection for this will occur in the first three weeks of term. We will also have a school athletics day on Thursday 21^st   November more information will be in the school newsletter.

On Wednesday we are going to Te Rangimārie Centre to participate in a retreat called ‘It’s cool to be Catholic’. The Catholic youth team will be running this. We will leave at 9am and return before 3pm. Children will wear mufti and the cost is $2 to be paid to the office by the end of the week please.
 
Topics this term include fractions and decimals and geometry for Maths, athletics and small ball skills for P.E, narratives and fables for Writing, and communion of saints for R.E.

Please check that your child still has all stationery needed in Room 4 including a red pen, ruler, pencils, colouring pencils, eraser etc.

Last Friday year 5-8 students went to Hagley Park to represent St Anne’s .

All teams did themselves proud and competed well.

There were a number of impressive results including:

Year 7/8 Rugby : 1^st

Year 5/6 Soccer A: 2^nd

Year 5/6 Neball A: 3^rd

On Thursday, Year 5-8 travelled to Hagley Park to compete in the South East Zone Winter Tournament. All teams did their best and behaviour and performance were outstanding.

Newsletter Term 3

Dear Parents/Caregivers of Room 4 Students,

Welcome back to another exciting term, I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break.

This letter is just to let you know a little about what will be happening in Term Three.

Homework will continue this term, each Monday 10 spelling words and 10 basic facts will come home in their notebook to learn. They also must complete a Reading Log which will also come home on a Monday. Please sign your child’s notebook and Reading Log to show they are completing these at home.

Topic	‘Being the best Citizen we can be’. Looking at social skills, resilience, building friendships and relationship, self esteem, skills for growing, building confidence, working together, positive classroom environment. Retreat with Room 5.
Writing	Explanations: looking at the format and protocol of writing an explanation. Explaining actions and tasks which will lead into writing and presenting speeches.
Maths	Multiplication and Division, Geometry: shapes and angles.
R.E	Sacrament and God
P.E	Kiwisport, Winter tournament(year 5), Fitness skills, invasion games.

Please check that your child still has all stationery needed in Room 4. There were lots of issues last term relating to children not having what they needed to learn. Essential stationery is 5 pencils, an eraser, a red and blue pen, ruler, pencil sharpener, glue stick and colouring pencils.

I hope you received your children’s Report at the end of last term please bring it along to interviews (week 3).

A big thanks to Sharyn for running netball practise and  coaching the netball team.

Arbor Day Planting

Room 4 were invited to attend a special day of planting baby trees up on the Port Hills. We had lots of fun and got very muddy!!
Thanks to the Port Hills Rangers and the Summit Road Society for organising this.

15 children travelled to Ferrymead Park on Thursday 30^th May.

After 6 weeks of hard training all athletes impressed with their performances.

Some outstanding results were: Madeline Youngman 1^st,   Jackson Youngman 2^nd,Melissa Burgess 4^th, Indi Timms 5^th , Tatiana Booster 11^th, Nadine Booster 13^th, Tyler Mounty 13^th.

A big thanks for all the parents who helped with transport and supervision on the day.
