Centrals Athletics
Central Athletics 2013
On Wednesday 4th December 11 children travelled to Ashburton.
All of our Athletes impressed with their performances and their support for each other. Results were John Lauvao 2nd Shot Put, Meleane Ulugia 2nd Shot Put, Joseph Magon 3rd Shot Put, Jackson Youngman 3rd 100m.

Term 4 Class Letter
Dear Parents/Caregivers of
Room 4 Students,
Our Science topic for Term Four is ‘Innovation’ looking at exploring space, planets, the night sky, space innovation, space travel and the history and future of space.
St Anne’s will be entering a team in the South East Zone Athletic Championship which will be held on Tuesday the 12th of November. Selection for this will occur in the first three weeks of term. We will also have a school athletics day on Thursday 21st November more information will be in the school newsletter.
On Wednesday we are going to Te Rangimārie Centre to participate in a retreat called ‘It’s cool to be Catholic’. The Catholic youth team will be running this. We will leave at 9am and return before 3pm. Children will wear mufti and the cost is $2 to be paid to the office by the end of the week please.
Topics this term include fractions and decimals and geometry for Maths, athletics and small ball skills for P.E, narratives and fables for Writing, and communion of saints for R.E.
Please check that your child still has
all stationery needed in Room 4 including a red pen, ruler, pencils, colouring
pencils, eraser etc.

Catholic Sports Tournament
Last Friday year 5-8 students went to
Hagley Park to represent St Anne’s .
All teams did themselves proud and competed
well.
There were a number of impressive results including:

Winter Tournament
South East Zone Winter Tournament.
On Thursday, Year 5-8 travelled to Hagley Park to compete in
the South East Zone Winter Tournament. All teams did their best and behaviour
and performance were outstanding.

Parents/Caregivers of Room 4 Students,
Welcome back to another exciting term, I
hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break.
This letter is just to let you know a
little about what will be happening in Term Three.
Homework
will continue this term, each Monday 10 spelling words and 10 basic facts will
come home in their notebook to learn. They also must complete a Reading Log
which will also come home on a Monday. Please sign your child’s notebook and
Reading Log to show they are completing these at home.
Topic

‘Being
the best Citizen we can be’. Looking at social skills, resilience,
building friendships and relationship, self esteem, skills for growing, building
confidence, working together, positive classroom environment. Retreat with
Room 5.

Writing
|
Explanations:
looking at the format and protocol of writing an explanation. Explaining
actions and tasks which will
lead into writing and presenting speeches.

Multiplication and Division, Geometry: shapes and angles.

Kiwisport, Winter tournament(year 5),
Fitness skills, invasion games.

Please check that your child still has all
stationery needed in Room 4. There were lots of issues last term relating to
children not having what they needed to learn. Essential stationery is 5
pencils, an eraser, a red and blue pen, ruler, pencil sharpener, glue stick and
colouring pencils.
I hope you received your children’s
Report at the end of last term please bring it along to interviews (week 3).

Arbor Day Planting
Room 4 were invited to attend a special day of planting baby trees up on the Port Hills. We had lots of fun and got very muddy!!

South East Zone Cross Country
15 children travelled to Ferrymead Park on Thursday 30th
May.
After 6 weeks of hard
training all athletes impressed with their performances.
Some outstanding results

Jackson Youngman 2nd,Melissa Burgess 4th, Indi
Timms 5th , Tatiana Booster 11th, Nadine Booster 13th,
