Term 1 Newsletter 2013
Dear Parents/Caregivers of
Room 4 Students,
Welcome back to another school year! I
hope you all had a restful and enjoyable holiday. I look forward to meeting all
the new faces in Room 4 this year.
This letter is to just let you know a little
about what will be happening this term, however more specific information will
follow in the weekly School Newsletter and on our blog. (http://stannes104.blogspot.co.nz)
Homework
will start week two this term and will be handed out on Mondays and returned on
Fridays. Homework is designed to have 15
minutes minimum a night spent on it. Homework consists of 12 times tables to be
learnt each night, 10 spelling words and a reading log to be filled out daily.
This homework is in line with current professional theories that children
should not be overwhelmed by large quantities of homework instead they should
complete the basics of reading, spelling and basic facts well.

Starting
week 5 we will start our swimming programme for 2013. Children must remember to
bring their togs and a towel on these days. There will be a more informative
note on swimming to follow.
Thank
you to all those who have sent their children with named stationery and hats,
can these all please be here by Friday.
Library day is Thursday this year and it
would be a great help if children remember to bring their books back on this
day.
I hope this answers some of your
questions. If you have any other queries please feel free to contact me at
school for an appointment or e-mail at ryan@stannes.co.nz
I
look forward to an exciting 2013, working with the fabulous children in Room 4.
